e-Reference Process and Statuses

e-Reference Statuses

e-Reference documents are exchanged between two institutions.

The Institution that creates the e-Reference is the Presenting Institution, while the Institution that responds to the e-Reference is the Receiving Institution.



The table below describes the status of e-Reference Items.

Overdue e-Reference

Every reference must be attended to within 48 working hours from the time of presentment; i: e the time the reference acquires a status of “Pending”. Note that public holidays and weekends are not included.

References that are not attended within this time acquire an “Overdue” status.

The overdue status of all references is visible to both the Presenting and Receiving Institutions.
